DARK * RUN 2023 2300km Blind Running Across Japan
 
One day in 2009, Gary suddenly lost his sight. He chose to hide at home all day after this serious blow happened. He even gained 190 pounds during that dark period of life. Two years later, Gary decided to bounce back and turn over a new leaf in life. Since 2021, Gary has started his chapter of running. He competed in running challenge in different countries or regions and became the first Hong Kong visually impaired runner and long-distance running coach.
 
Gary hopes to influence others to stay positive in a hard time by fundraising for people in need through the long-distance running challenge. In 2023, he will lead a running team to challenge the “DARK*RUN 2300km Blind Running” again. They will run from Kagoshima in the south of Japan to Aomori in the north. The whole journey is divided into ten sections, four days per section, 50km per day. The goal is to raise 1 million Hong Kong dollars for Make-A-Wish Hong Kong to grant more life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses and enrich their human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Universal Participation DARK RUN - Virtual Run
 

Gary is now inviting ALL Hong Kong citizens to join the Dark Run virtual run. Even if you cannot travel to Japan, you can run with Gary every day during his 40-day journey, contributing to the good cause together. The registration fee, after deducting the cost, will be donated to Make-A-Wish Hong Kong. Participants will also have the opportunity to win a set of round-trip air tickets to Japan.
